Judy Garland was christened Frances Gumm when she was born on June 10th 1922 in Grand Rapids , Michigan. At fourteen years of age she made her debut movie. Three years later she walked the Yellow Brick Road to fame with The Tin Man, The Scarecrow and The Cowardly Lion in the 1939 film, “The Wizard Of Oz”. During the next ten years Judy was featured in highly successful MGM musicals, many with Mickey Rooney, such as the “Andy Hardy” series. Plagued by personal problems, she made an amazing comeback in the 1954 movie, “A Star Is Born”. After being married to orchestra-leader, David Rose whose orchestra is the backing for many of the songs on this CD, Judy was the wife of director, Vincente Minnelli during 1945-50. They named their daughter, Liza. Judy was the hostess of a TV variety show in 1963-64, and a greatly loved concert star on both sides of the Atlantic.
