(2-CD set) In the seventies there was a minor big band revival which meant survival for the few bands which were prepared to take to the road and undertake arduous “one nighters”. The great Harry James’ Band was one such, and in 1971 the band undertook a six week European tour which began in London on the 11th of October of that year. Through the seventies and eighties the band continued to play to sell-out audiences, The music on this double CD comes from one such “live” concert in chicago in 1973. The featured vocalist is Sandy Martino. In 1983 it became apparent that Harry was a sick man and on the 5th of July, at the age of 67, he died from lymphatic cancer.
