This CD is a tribute to two of America’s greatest song writers Jerome Kern and George Gershwin sung in exemplary fashion by one of its greatest singers Frank Sinatra. As far as we know, there is no other CD on which Frank Sinatra pays tribute to the flawless melodies of Jerome Kern. This is surprising because even before he left the great Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the young crooner had revealed his love for the composer’s The Song Is You by recording it with Axel Stordahl and his Orchestra as part of his solo repertoire on the Bluebird label in January 1942. The Song Is You Is also the last number which Frank broadcast with the Dorsey Band on September 3rd 1942.
