This CD features the second part of a Stan Kenton Trilogy. The first, catalogue number DSOY2156 was devoted to Stan Kenton’s dance music. This disc, the second, is devoted to Kenton’s jazz music. We have selected three musicians and one singer who were key players in influencing the direction of the band. The first being Lee Konitz, the second Art Pepper, the third Ann Richards and lastly Ray Starling. There were of course other luminaries who played a major part in the bands direction, but these four more than the others influenced the band’s jazz output. The CD also contains previously unissued material.
