This CD Features a selection of music taken from Stan Kenton’s appearances at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1975 and 76. Stan made regular appearances at the festival where he not only performed with his band, but was also, on occasion, master of ceremonies introducing other acts. The venue for the performances on this disc was the City Centre in New York. the festival having moved from its original location in Newport, Rhode Island, but still retaining the name and ethos of the original festivals. It should also be noted that this was probably the most popular period in the orchestra’s history.
