Living In Darkness
Release Date: 11/20/2012
Format: CD
List Price: (B11) $11.98

ALTERNATIVE ROCK/PUNK
Silver Saucer’s mission is to do for CDs what Drastic Plastic Records does for vinyl: ensuring the continued availability and best possible sound for seminal recordings. Our first release is Agent Orange’s classic Living in Darkness. The CD features the original LP track list with a limited initial run of 1,000 copies. We here at Drastic boldly assert that Living In Darkness is the greatest skate-punk record of all time. Certainly one of the three most important hardcore records for the burgeoning skate scene in the early eighties (JFA’s Valley of the Yakes and Minor Threat’s Out Of Step being the other two). Originally released in 1981, this marriage between hardcorepunk and surf music has influenced countless music fans, musicians and skate fans since its debut. Always relevant and extremely seminal, this record is a key cornerstone of any punk collection.

Hallowed Ground
Release Date: 11/19/2013
Format: LP
List Price: (A21) $21.98

ALTERNATIVE ROCK/PUNK
The sophmore effort from the Violent Femmes was a departure from their highly acclaimed debut album. Hallowed Ground features more of their folk/punk hybrid that made them so unique from the start but with even more maniacal energy than they had previously displayed. Lead singer and songwriter Gordon Gano explores his love/hate relationship with religion with the same glee he did exploring the teenage/young adult drama of their debut. A under valued classic brought to you by 4 Men With Beards on 180 gram vinyl.

Floating Into The Night
Release Date: 11/18/2014
Format: LP
List Price: (A21) $21.98

ALTERNATIVE ROCK/PUNK
“Floating Into The Night” is the 1989 debut album by vocalist Julee Cruise featuring songs written and produced by composer Angelo Badalamenti and film director David Lynch. The songs "Falling" and "Rockin' Back Inside My Heart" were both featured in Lynch's cult television series Twin Peaks, "Into the Night", "The Nightingale" and "The World Spins" also appeared in the show. The instrumental version of “Falling” was the theme song for Twin Peaks while the album as a whole is almost an unofficial soundtrack to the series. The track “Mysteries Of Love” was prominently featured in Lynch’s classic film Blue Velvet. Cruise’s dreamy, light vocals match perfectly with the music and lyrics to make this album sound like it is unattached to any era. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl with a double sided insert by Plain Recordings.

BIG BAND
It was an incredible experience to revisit these 10 tunes in the studio with L.A.'s finest, spanning a 40-year stretch of big band writing. In writing the music I wasn't thinking of all of what style of music was at hand, but rather how I would like to play, with whom, and how to formulate a sound of my own that was influenced by my musical environment coming in New York City. Here is a cross section of tunes I've composed for big band that will take you on a musical journey through the broad terrain sometimes referred to as jazz.

Format: LP
List Price: (A21) $21.98

COUNTRY & WESTERN
Guy Clark's debut from 1975 is one of the all time classic country singer-songwriter records. By the time of its release the Texas native had been shopping his tunes in Nashville for a few years and the songs from Old No. 1 were already well aged and often covered. Regardless, though Clark considers himself more a songwriter than a recording artist, nobody holds a candle to these performances. From the rollicking Texas swing of opener "Rita Ballou" to the finger picked heartbreak of closer "Let Him Roll" there is not a stinker to be found. Features help from Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and a young Steve Earle.

Black Light

List Price: (A16) $16.98

JAZZ
As a musician, composer, and bandleader, John McLaughlin’s vast contributions to contemporary improvisational music are only just beginning to be fully understood, appreciated, and absorbed by artists and enthusiasts alike. From Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti and his collaboration with Paco De Lucia, to his current band the 4th Dimension, McLaughlin’s music has extended across the boundaries dividing jazz, rock, and innumerable global traditions, encompassing a number of genres while emerging fully formed as his own, uniquely personal expressive medium. Now, McLaughlin is prepared to break through yet again, with what he feels is his most personal statement today: Black Light. Black Light includes 8 original McLaughlin compositions, including a heartfelt homage to his departed colleague, collaborator, and friend Paco De Lucia – with whom McLaughlin had intended to compose an album’s worth of new material just before De Lucia’s untimely passing. McLaughlin has returned to acoustic guitar for a tribute to his friend, entitled “El Hombre Que Sabia” and brings forth from the instrument a depth of sadness and admiration beyond words. Mclaughlin adds, “I have explored ways in music and recorded them with happiness. 'Black Light' has opened a portal that is neither Jazz nor Rock, nor Indian nor Blues, and yet all of these: it's an open door. Otherwise electric, Black Light features the 4th Dimension – “my three favorite musicians,” in McLaughlin’s word – in full flight, with their empathy and precision honed on stage and in the studio. The 4th Dimension is composed of the remarkable multi-instrumentalist Gary Husband on keyboards and drums, Etienne Mbappe’s nimble, effervescent electric bass, and the powerhouse drumming of Ranjit Barot.

List Price: (A21) $21.98

ROCK
1997’s The Mollusk is yet another sign that Ween just got better and better with each record. The Mollusk is perhaps their most concise and well-honed record to date. After the previous year’s exercise in country music (12 Golden Country Greats) the duo returns to its usual genre jumping, though there is a heavy focus on prog-rock. Often nautically themed and, as always, way smarter than they’re given credit for, The Mollusk is one of the highest points in a brilliant catalog. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl.

Funkadelic

SOUL
The 1970 debut from Detroit's nastiest, most shredding progenitors of funk-rock. Funkadelic formed in the late '60s and, in addition to Clinton, included the blazing guitar of Eddie Hazel, organist Mickey Atkins, rhythm guitarist Tawl Ross, and drummer Tiki Fulwood. Though firmly rooted in funk and soul, Funkadelic incorporates a dark psychedelic element, influenced by Hendrix and Sly Stone, to create a sound that was unparalleled at the time. Sampled by everyone from DJ Shadow to Ice Cube, Funkadelic still sounds fresh today and is the first solid example of George Clinton's eccentric genius. 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe classic style jacket.

SOUL
1971's Maggot Brain is Funkadelic's all-out masterpiece. Absolutely no one working in soul and funk at the time had the scope, or vision, to pull off the kind of record that George Clinton and his collaborators have made here. Eccentric funk jams are book ended by two of the heaviest tracks ("Maggot Brain" and "Wars Of Armageddon") ever committed to tape. The title track, and album opener, is nothing short of mind-blowing, Eddie Hazel's guitar is a revolution brought on by Clinton asking him to play “as if your mother just died”. An essential classic and the deepest album to come out of the Parliament-Funkadelic camp. 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe classic style gatefold sleeve.
