This second volume of J B Lenoir's complete recordings resumes by reissuing the remaining Parrot label sessions from 1955 and the first, mid 1950s dates for Chess Records proper. Despite moving on to the bigger Chicago label with better distribution than Parrot, Lenoir was unable to repeat his R&B chart success, although he continued to record boogie sequels such as "Mama Your Daughter Is Going To Miss Me" and "What About Your Daughter?" and, even, "Daddy, Talk to Your Son!" More original were such sensitive blues as "Don't Dog Your Woman", "We've Both Got to Realize (We Can't Go On This Way)" and "I've Been Down So Long" which display JB's effective guitar work as well as his soulful vocal style. |
